France: We have indications of chemical use in Idlib

France has "indications" that a chemical weapon has been used in Idlib, northwestern Syria, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian said Tuesday.

The French minister told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly: "We have an indication of the use of chemical weapons in Idlib area, but has not been verified yet," according to Agence France-Presse.

The United States threatened last week that it would take a "quick and appropriate response" with its allies if the Syrian government was to use chemical weapons on May 19 during an attack on opposition forces in Idlib province.

US bombed sites in Syria twice because of the Syrian regime's use of chemical weapons in April 2017 and April 2018.
