Exclusive- Libyan army arrests illegal armed groups in S. Jaghboub area

Brigadier General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Libyan National Army, announced that one of the Libyan Armed Forces units affiliated to the “Tobruk Military Region” had arrested illegal armed groups south of the Jaghboub region.

Al-Mahjoub explained in a special statement to our agency that the Reconnaissance Division in Tobruk Military Region had coordinated with the 108th Battalion a qualitative operation after receiving information about a group of criminals blocking the road in front of passers-by and fishermen in an abandoned area to detain them for ransom demand in a criminal act, using light and medium weapons and missiles in addition to automatic four-wheel drive vehicles.

The Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Libyan National Army stated that after tracking the traces of this group’s movement, their whereabouts were identified and monitored, and the brigade proceeded to arrest them, as the outlaw group tried to resist with the weapons in their possession and then flee, but before strikes and the 108 Brigade advanced. All of them were arrested without any injury among the "armed forces".

Al-Mahjoub noted that the arrested were transported from the scene of the clash on board a helicopter belonging to the vertical squadron at Nasser Air Base, to be handed over to Tobruk Military Region to take the necessary action against these groups.

This comes, in implementation of the Commander-in-Chief's instructions in confronting all outlaw groups and anyone trying to undermine the security and stability of the homeland.
