America threatens China again with an increase in tariffs

The US President Donald Trump has threatened China that he could target $ 300 billion of Chinese imports with new custom duties if necessary.

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday, "There are a lot of interesting things going on in our talks with China, we'll see what will happen. I can increase tariffs on goods at least $ 300 billion and I will do so in time."

Despite the warning, the US president expressed confidence that China and other countries involved in a trade dispute with Washington such as Mexico, which would like to make a trade deal with his country.

The trade war between the United States and China escalated last month after trade negotiations reached to dead end with Washington, accusing Beijing of backtracking on an imminent deal that the two countries' officials were close to its completion.

Trump also raised tariffs from 10 percent to 25 percent on Chinese goods worth at 200 billion dollars, bringing China an increase in tariffs on US goods at 50 billion dollars. The US administration also listed Huawei as its blacklist.
