This came in a statement issued by al-Raqqa Civil Council in response to the assassination of Sheikh Bashir Faisal al-Huwaidi, one of the dignitaries and symbols of the tribe of al-Afadela, a member of al-Raqqa Civil Council, today in al-Raqqa city, the statement said:
"With great sadness and sorrow, we received the news of the assassination of Sheikh Bashir Faisal al-Huwaidi, one of the dignitaries and clans of al-Afadela clan, a prominent member of al-Raqqa Civil Council and of national figures. He had a positive and active role in the life and march of the council.
On behalf of al-Raqqa Civil Council, we condemn this heinous crime, which has no connection to humanity. We say to those behind these despicable terrorist criminal operations that our people in al-Raqqa with all their components of Arabs and Kurds and Syric and Turkmen and Circassians, and others condemn this crime.
Therefore, we call upon our people in al-Raqqa and their elders and tribal leaders to pay attention to these subversive schemes and agendas, which try to play with the social fabric in al-Raqqa, to create a state of chaos on which these and dark agendas are based.
